Steven Spielberg is one of the few film directors who can sit at the billionaire’s table. The acclaimed filmmaker has a net worth of $3.7 billion.
And it looks like he has no problem enjoying the fruits of his creative labor considering that he and his wife Kate Capshaw own an estimated $200 million worth of real estate properties across the United States. Let’s look at a quick rundown of their impressive property portfolio.
Primary Residence
Although they own numerous beautiful houses, the Spielbergs have primarily lived in a five-acre compound in the Pacific Palisades. Originally bought in the mid-80s, the multi-home estate reportedly piqued the director’s interest because of its famous past owners like Barbara Hutton and Cary Grant.
One of the most interesting features of the home is a room with a hobbit theme that Spielberg himself envisioned. The room, which also functions as a TV and family room, is adorned by mushroom-shaped windows and moldings.
It is a reflection of the 73-year-old filmmaker’s ‘personal mythology’ and is also the place where he spends most of his time. The couple also used to own other properties on the West Coast including beachfront estates in Malibu. They sold their beach oasis in 2015 for $26 million.
East Coast Holdings
Not surprisingly, Spielberg bought multiple properties on the other side of the coast as well. Among his holdings is a massive 6,000-square-foot apartment located in the famed The San Remo Building.
The 27-story co-op is known for housing a long list of other celebrities and public personalities in the past. Its residents include the likes of Mary Tyler Moore, Demi Moore, Tiger Woods, and Diane Keaton, for starters.
Outside the city limits, the Spielbergs maintain a 10-acre estate in East Hampton. A reported 7.5 acres of their holdings there are on Georgica Pond, another celebrity hotspot.
Going down south, the director owns a mansion in Naples Florida. There isn’t really a lot of information about the place but it’s been the topic of some local real estate rumors saying he bought 62 homes in the area.
A Roof over the Kids’ Heads
The couple has also reportedly purchased several homes around the Los Angeles area for their children. Spielberg and Capshaw have seven kids, both biological and adopted. Not surprising since the director has made it known before that he will always drop everything to meet their needs.
