Evan Spiegel isn’t even thirty yet, but he’s already achieved things other people could only dream of accomplishing within their lifetime.
For starters, he’s currently a multi-billionaire having earned his first billion when he was just 25 years old. Spiegel is also married to a former supermodel and lives with his family in a $12 million mansion.
This is how he made it all happen.
Growing Up
Spiegel is a California native who’s spent most of his life in the golden state. Growing up in a posh area, he was educated in the best private schools famous for schooling celebrities.
He went to the Crossroads School of Arts, which people like actress Zooey Deschanel, comedian Jack Black, and director Michael Bay also attended. It wasn’t there though that he would come up with the app idea that made him among the youngest self-made billionaires in the world.
Like some of his fellow tech entrepreneurs, Spiegel went on to attend an Ivy League school. And after ensuring the profitability of his app idea, he dropped out of Stanford University just a few weeks away from graduation.
Co-Founding Snapchat
Together with fellow students Reggie Brown and Bobby Murphy, Spiegel began working on an idea for an app that supports disappearing messages. He first proposed it during product design class in 2011 but reportedly got ridiculed by his peers.
Luckily, he didn’t let the naysayers discourage him from seeing his concept through. Thus, the trio worked together and launched Picaboo, which would later become Snapchat.
Within a year, the app garnered a million daily users. Two years more and Spiegel’s success earned him his billionaire status.
His net worth further grew when the rebranded Snap Inc went public in 2017. The 29-year-old’s wealth is estimated to be around $3.5 billion.
Charmed Life
Spiegel’s wins weren’t just confined in his successful career, though.
He is currently married to former Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr and shares two sons with her. They welcomed their firstborn Hart in 2018 and a second son Myles in 2019.
And in between being a businessman, a father, and a husband, he managed to go back to Stanford and finally graduate in 2018, after being inspired by his first son.
His achievement is also a continuation of a family tradition as Spiegel’s own father also went to the same university. By finishing his studies, he reportedly hopes to set an example for his son as well.
