Now that Mike Bloomberg has ended his bid for the American presidency, it seems like the businessman has turned his sights back on expanding his already expansive real estate collection.
His new addition is a Colorado ranch that comes with all the luxurious facilities needed to sustain a billionaire’s lifestyle. Let’s take a virtual tour of his 4,600-acre property.
Mike’s Westlands
According to the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg splurged $44.79 million on a ranch called Westlands near Meeker, Colorado. The estate was originally listed by its previous owner, fellow billionaire Henry Kravis, for a slightly higher price tag of $46 million.
Kravis isn’t likely losing sleep over the slight discount though considering he originally bought the land for just $5.5 million in the early ‘90s. He reportedly spent the next three decades developing it to become the luxury ranch it is today.
The purchase went through in mid-April just some six weeks after the 78-year-old former New York City mayor bowed out of the presidential race, which he reportedly spent $1 billion for.
Billionaire’s Playground
Bloomberg will now get to enjoy Westland’s numerous amenities from a four-hole golf course where he can practice his swing to a helicopter hangar to accommodate his flying needs.
The property also features numerous residential facilities. There is plenty of space for both guests and staff working at the massive estate given the cabins and buildings on the property.
While there, the billionaire might be able to add another hobby when he gets tired of operating his choppers or scoring holes in one. Westlands’ location near the White River also makes it an ideal jump-off point for fly fishing.
One of Many
Of course, this isn’t Bloomberg’s first foray into Colorado real estate. He already owns a condo in Vail, a popular ski town. The rest of his other estates are spread out across the United States and beyond.
He primarily resides in a five-story townhouse in Manhattan where he’s actually lived since the ‘80s. The home is currently valued at $17 million.
His love of the Big Apple led him to buy up some more properties in the urban jungle starting with his townhouse’s neighboring brownstone units. The billionaire also owns a condo on Park Avenue.
Outside the U.S., Bloomberg’s portfolio includes a residence in the British island of Bermuda as well as an apartment and townhouse in London.
